Udine is a beautiful part of Italy to visit. The town offers plenty of interesting sightseeing such as the castle which is located in the centre of the town. This building was erected in the year 1517 on a site which was destroyed by an earthquake. Inside the castle you will find one of Europe’s oldest Parliament Halls.
Udine’s Cathedral (Santa Maria Maggiore) dates back to the thirteenth century. It was consecrated in the year 1335. Towards the end of the eighteenth century the cathedral underwent considerable work on both the inside and outside. Inside you will find art by Tiepolo, Dorigny and Amalteo.
Some other spots worth visiting in Udine include the archbishop’s palace which contains some wonderful art as well as Museo Civico. There is also a university and a local theatre (Teatro Giovanni da Udine)
