Italian Airport Figures up at Bologna and Bergamo

The airport figures for July have just been released in Italy with Bergamo Airport and Bologna showing substantial traffic increases. The numbers at Bologna were up by over fourteen percent while Bergamo numbers were up by almost seventeen percent. Airport traffic overall in July was down by one percent.

There were also passenger number increases at Ciampino and Palermo however things were not so good at larger airports such as Malpensa and Fiumicino in particular where there was a drop in numbers of over seven percent.

Trapani showed some huge growth with numbers up by over one hundred and thirteen percent. Some other smaller airports performing well included Cuneo, Perugia and Alghero.

When comparing the first six months of the year with 2008, traffic at Italian airports has dropped by almost six and a half percent.

Bergamo has received huge surge in domestic traffic this year. The abundance of cheap flights been offered into some of the smaller airports in Italy has enticed many new visitors to these regions.
