Venice – Cortina d’Ampezzo

There are numerous routes from both Ireland and the UK to Treviso making it an easily accessible destination which will not hurt the pocket too much. There are some superb skiing resorts within a ninety minute drive from Treviso airport. Simply jump in your car hire Treviso Airport service and hit the road.

One of the best resorts located near Treviso is Cortina d’Ampezzo. This resort has long been an excellent choice for skiers with a proud history which included being the first Italian resort to be used for the Winter Olympics back in 1956. Located slap bang in the middle of the Dolomites there is no shortage of slopes around with Faloria and Cristallo some the busiest areas.

This resort is also just a one hundred kilometre drive from Venice Marco Polo Airport so it’s worth checking out flight prices for both airports to see where you can find the best deal.

Ski runs are colour coded which means you can tell how difficult it is going to be. Blue runs are the easiest and accounts for thirty three percent of the slopes here. Red is of intermediate difficulty and accounts for the majority sixty two percent while black (difficult) accounts for five percent.

There are forty six lifts in total here – thirty chairlifts, ten draglifts and six cable cars. There are also ski schools available.
