Courmayeur is a beautiful Italian town located near Mont Blanc which is the tallest mountain in the west of Europe. Courmayeur Ski Resort is just one of many excellent spots in the Aosta Valley.
Courmayeur is an old style resort which has maintained much of its wonderful charm. Picturesque buildings and cobbled streets add to its atmosphere. A few chain hotels have gone up in places but of course this has to be expected in such a popular area. There are plenty of chalets available here as well as some great places to eat and drink. Some other fun activities include paragliding and bowling.
Many resorts can be accessed with an Aosta Valley joint lift ticket such as Pila, La Rosière and La Thuile. You can access up to one hundred kilometers of runs here with one particular twenty kilometer run offering a route to Chamonix in France. There is also the renowned world cup run which entails a six kilometre run with a drop of one hundred metres.
There is an excellent spread of challenges for all skiers at Courmayeur. Forty five percent of runs are classed as intermediate while twenty percent are for beginners and thirty five percent are for advanced skiers.
