Venice is one of the most culturally rich cities in the entire world and it has a long heritage behind it. Hence you will find a short trip to Venice a fascinating experience that will leave you wanting more.
To begin, you can go up to the top of the Campanile to get a splendid view of the entire city and of the onion domes. Be carefully though, it is very windy up there and the bell can be deafening if it starts tolling. You can get to see the La Zecca, which was originally the mint and now it is a library. If it is not open for an exhibition when you are visiting, talk to the director and see if you can arrange a tour.
You can also visit the clock tower, which has recently started to lean on one side. So if you are not going to Pisa, here’s you chance to see a leaning tower. You can also see the small exhibit of Mariano Fortuny’s famous creations from pleated silk and velvet at Museo Fortuny. You can also go to the Doge’s palace and take a guided or an audio tour. There is also the secret itinerary tour for seeing rooms that are not open to the other tours.
When exhausted, you can take a sip at the legendary cafes of Florian’s or Quadris. These can be very expensive but you can sit here for as long as you want and enjoy the sights, sounds and the music.
